Exploring American History Curriculum
History Curriculum
Coming Summer 2025
American History from 1879-2020
This curriculum teaches American history through rich children’s literature and engaging non fiction texts. We take a hands-on approach to learning history that allows students to dive deep into the learning and encourages them to become lifelong learners.
What is Exploring American History?
Students will learn about history through living books and hands-on crafts and activities.
It is designed for grades 1-5. The workbooks are leveled for the varying skills of students in different stages.
Each lesson begins with an overview of the lesson from a non-fiction text, then the lesson is tied in with a historical fiction text to engage the students further. Students are then asked to narrate what they’ve listened to and there is always room to discuss the text with the teacher. There is always a craft or activity to go along with the learning for the day, and they finish off the day with copywork, drawing a picture to go along with the copywork, and older students are expected to answer a question from the learning. With each lesson, there’s a photo to add to a timeline to be seen in the classroom.
